Leather is a very versatile product and can be easily formed when damp. In the November craft session we will shape several projects: a stunning flower brooch as well as a leaf or owl pin/fridge magnet.

Â
Leather can be painted, stamped, stretched, dyed, hardened, sewn, glued and embossed. It is the perfect medium for crafters, seamtresses, tailors, decorators, etc, who want to experiment and let their imaginations go WILD!
Above are some of the items Carol Owen has prepared for us to learn on.
Â
While we wait for our creations to dry, we will also make a mystery braid bracelet: a braid formed within one piece of suede with no loose ends. Some very fancy twisting makes a lovely little bracelet.
You will need to bring the following:Instructor
CAROL OWEN will be leading us in this special workshop. She has been spending a lot of weekends at Tandy's, not to mention going through a lot of leather.
Carol has always had a creative side. She attributes this to watching her father whittle and do various forms of calligraphy. Her mother sewed and enjoyed various forms of needlework.
Carol says that this creative way has been a matter of progression. She taught herself to sew; she has been making banners and signs in wood since she was about 12 years old.
Upon retiring from Base Borden, Carol decided to take classes to learn more about the scroll saw and carving. Her work has been in our Member’s Boutique and she has even given away some as a Christmas gift in our December gift exchange.
Carol likes to do paper crafting, quilling and is a very good fine artist with some beautiful portraits in her portfolio.
Carol has a business called OUT OF THE WOODS; and will be at the Christmas Arts and Crafts Show at the Barrie Molson Centre the weekend of November 4-6, 2011.
