Hand knitting has been practised for thousands of years. It was an important life skill for the pioneers who needed warm clothing for our winters. It is a simple, inexpensive way of self expression and relaxation. With all the new yarns available, knitting is a craft that is experiencing a comeback, with people all over the world enjoying creating beautiful items of clothing.
Getting started: First watch the video below. It is an interview with two knitters and will give you an idea of what is involved.
A Google search of the internet for Knitting Guilds or Clubs will give you some direction in your own area. Most yarn shops also give lessons or know someone who teaches. If you click here you will find teachers in Simcoe County who have registered with us.
