On Monday, November 2, we invite you to create a Painted Lady Pin Doll with award-winning doll artist and teacher Wendy Lynne Rinehart from Orillia.

pin-doll-face-broochYou could have seen Master Dollmaker Wendy Lynne Rinehart's work at the Coldwater Studio Tour last June or in the CDAA display at the Creativ Festival in Toronto.  A relative newcomer to Simcoe County she brings with her an international reputation for dollmaking.

Queen_TitaniaAt this year's conference of the Canadian Doll Artists Association,  Wendy's Queen Titania at the Autumn Ball (right) won first prize in the Fantasy Master category while a second, Nip 'n Tuck, was also nominated.  She has won many awards for her fantasy and portrait dolls (one each year from the CDAA!). She works in many media including fabric, polymer clay and, lately, gourds.

At our November meeting you'll be creating these saucy little 'Painted Ladies'.  You'll be painting the make-up of your lady and then attaching it to a base. Next comes the hair, earings, necklace and finally a pin back because these 'Painted Ladies' love to party hearty during the Christmas season.
The kit will include the face already penciled in on a piece of fabric, backing felt, hair, pin back and beaded trim. Students will be expected to provide a thin nib felt marker that will not run on fabric, coloured pencils, Aleene's tacky glue, needle and white thread. Don't worry about the glue, we will have some available to share, if you don't have any.

The meeting is held at the Simcoe County Museum at 1pm sharp until 3pm. The general public is invited to attend. There is a charge of $5 for members and $10 for non-members which covers instruction, materials and refreshments.
